The Nurturing Programme
All our work, including all the training we deliver, is underpinned by The Nurturing Programme which helps to develop the understanding, skills and ability to lead an emotionally healthy life and to support positive relationships.
The Nurturing Programme, which is evidence-based and universal, is a relational programme which focuses on strengths, partnership and supporting personal power – our emotional strength to get our needs met and make choices in our lives.
In the context of parenting, the key elements of nurturing parenting are the 4 Building Blocks of self-awareness, appropriate expectations, empathy and positive discipline. These Building Blocks support good emotional health and, as such, are essential for all healthy relationships.
We understand the impact of trauma and apply this understanding both to the facilitation of all Nurturing Programme groups and to the training to deliver them. With this in mind, all of our parent groups are facilitated by two Parent Group Leaders, both trained by The Centre for Emotional Health in the specific programme being delivered.
