1. Why have you amended your name? Like all organisations we have evolved over time, and as our training offer has grown beyond parents and families, it feels natural for Family Links the Centre for Emotional Health to become The Centre for Emotional Health in order to highlight our broader reach. This change came into effect on 4th December 2023. Full details of the changes can be found in this document:

2. What does The Centre for Emotional Health do? We are a national charity whose vision is for everyone to live an emotionally healthy life. We promote an approach to life and relationships that equips and supports families and communities to be emotionally healthy. Emotional Health is the set of skills and beliefs that shape our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It is affected by our relationships and our experience of the relationships around us. If we have good emotional health we have the ability to be aware of, to understand and to manage our whole range of emotions. We provide high quality training courses and resources for professionals working with families, parents and carers in a variety of settings. Our approach, which is underpinned by the Nurturing Programme, is relational and empowering and understands behaviour in the context of feelings and relationships. Our training develops self-awareness, empathy, and self-regulation, supporting people to build and maintain positive relationships.

The American child psychologist Dr Stephen J. Bavolek developed The Nurturing Programme based on his research into family interactions where he identified four destructive parental behaviour patterns. Parent Group Leader Login

1.What is the Parent Group Leader Login? The Parent Group Leader (PGL) section of the website is for professionals who have completed some of our training courses. It is a resource library where you can find all the paperwork you need to help you to recruit parents to your groups, deliver the programme and measure the impact for parents and children.

2.Who can access the PGL section? Professionals who can access the Parent Group Leader section, are those who have completed one of the following The Centre for Emotional Health training courses: •Parent Group Leader Training •Welcome to the World Training •Talking Teens Training •HAPPY Training Professionals who have only attended Working One to One with Parents are not PGLs, and cannot access the PGL Login section, but can access resources in the Parent Zone:

3.How can I set up a PGL Login account? To create a PGL Login account, please go to any page of our website and click the orange button labelled “PGL Login” at the top right of the page. Alternatively, you can follow this link: From there, click “New to this site? Sign Up”. You will then be able to create an account with your email address and a password of your choice, which we will then check and approve within 2 working days. We may request more information about where and when you trained. You will then have access to the PGL Login section.

4.I have moved organisations. How can I change my PGL Login? Unfortunately, we cannot change the email address associated with a PGL Login account. Please contact us at detailing your old job, new employer, new job title, and new email address so we can delete the old account and update our database of Parent Group Leaders. You will then need to create a new account with the new email address as detailed in question 3 above.

If the email doesn’t come through, check your junk or spam folder in the first instance and then contact us if necessary via The password reset email can sometimes be blocked by your email provider’s firewall. If instead you have forgotten the email address associated with your PGL Login account, please contact us at and we will be happy to help locate your account.

6.Help, I can’t find what I am looking for in the PGL Login The PGL Login section is arranged into folders. Each programme that gives access to the PGL Login for trained facilitators has a folder containing all the paperwork needed for that programme. These folders are divided into sub folders for recruitment to your group, evaluation, each week of the respective programme, and images of the boards you need to run the groups. From the main page of the PGL Login you can also find folders containing The Centre for Emotional Health logos (if you want to make your own posters, flyers etc.), five videos we have made demonstrating role plays from our programmes, and updates to our programme facilitator handbooks so you can be sure to be delivering the most up to date version of the programme, even if you trained some time ago. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, please email us at and we will be very happy to help.

1.What is an Open Training? Open Training is very popular and is bookable online for individuals via our website: We release new training dates three times each year and our face-to-face training is delivered at various locations across the UK, in response to local demand.

2.What is a Team Training? A Team Training is ideal if you have around 16 people and you have an appropriately sized room and the facility to offer refreshments. Team Training helps to embed the Nurturing Programme across a setting, providing a shared language and consistent approach. Practitioners will also benefit from internal support enabling them to have a greater impact. If you don’t have quite enough to fill a Team Training, why not join up with another organisation in your area? For the best availability of Team Training dates, it is best to book training at least four months in advance. For further information about Team Training please read our Commissioners Guide:

3.Should I book a Team Training or Open Training? The answer to this question will depend on several factors and what is most appropriate to your organisation’s needs (e.g. how many people are to be trained, how soon you want them to train and if you wish them all to be trained at the same time, plus budget considerations). Please note that Open Training can book up very quickly and the locations of our face-to-face training rotates so you may have to wait several months before an Open Training course is available in your area. If you need help deciding between Team or Open Training, please contact us at

4.How can I book Training? To book training please click on the “Book Training” button at the top of the page to see the dates for face-to-face and online training courses which are open to all. New dates are added every few months, so please re-visit for the latest availability. For training just for your team, please contact our Training Team directly at

5.Can I book training over the phone? We encourage customers to book Open Training using our online booking system, but if you need assistance please either email us at or call us on 01865 401800 and we will be happy to help.

6.When will new training dates be announced in my area? New dates are added every few months to the Training Calendar page:, so please re-visit for the latest availability.

7.The course I want to book on is fully booked; what can I do? We operate a Reserve List for current and future dates of all training courses. Email your details to to be added to the list.

8.How can I register interest in a future training date? If you would like to be notified by email when we next add new dates to our Training Calendar, please contact us at Letting us know which training you are interested in, how many places you would want, and your general location, we can then add your interest to our database.

9.I am booked on an online training; when will I receive my Zoom link and joining instructions? If you are booked on one of our Open Trainings, we will email the Zoom link and joining instructions to you two working days before the training. If you are attending a Team Training, we send the link to the commissioner of the training a week before the training for them to distribute to trainees; please contact them directly if you have any questions.

10.How do I know The Centre for Emotional Health training works? What is the evidence-base? The Centre for Emotional Health has been delivering training for 25 years. Many of our local authority customers have been using the Nurturing Programme for decades because their practitioners love it and they have seen the impact on the families they support. Find out more about our impact by visiting the Impact and Evidence section of our website:

11.Is The Centre for Emotional Health training accredited? Anyone who attends our training receives a certificate as proof of completion of the course. Some of our training is CPD accredited. To find out more, please refer to our Commissioner Guide to Training:

Parents and Guardians

1.Can I complete a training course as a parent? We deliver training using a “Train the trainer” model, thereby we do not offer training courses for parents directly. Instead, please look for a local parent group (see question 2 below for suggestions).

2.How do I get onto a parent group near me? We train people to run parent groups in children’s centres, schools, mosques, family support services, and many other venues around the UK. We do not run parent groups ourselves so please get in touch with your Local Authority, local children’s centre or Family Information Service to find your local group, more help can be found here:

3.Can you help me with the “Family Link” app? We are a different organisation entirely from the Family Link app (our name was Family Links - with an “s”). People often mix us up and all we can suggest is contacting Google For Families Help:
